Description

Complete renovation of an apartment on Avenida de Roma, one of Lisbon's most sought-after residential axes — buildings from the 1950s and 60s, modernist in character and of a strongly distinctive urban scale. The intervention centres on spatial optimisation and the occupant's quality of life.

The original layout divided the 70 m² into overlapping, cramped and disjointed rooms. Removing a non-structural partition created an integrated living and kitchen area — the greatest transformation for the smallest construction impact. The apartment is reorganised into a day zone and a night zone, with the corridor absorbed into the geometry of the rooms.

Intervention
  • Spatial optimisation with minimal construction impact
  • Integrated living and kitchen area; corridor removed
  • Clear organisation between day zone and night zone
  • Limestone in the common areas, timber in the bedrooms, concrete in the wet rooms
