Tourism & Accommodation
Ericeira, Portugal
400 m²
Under construction
Renovation of a coastal building in Ericeira for short-stay accommodation — in a town recognised by UNESCO as a World Surfing Reserve.
Architecture that respects the existing built fabric — massing, materials and colour — without breaking with the urban context.
The building, located in an established part of the town, had underused tourism potential. The intervention reorganised the structure and function of the space to accommodate independent lodging units and quality communal areas.
The programme brings together a range of layouts — from studios to one-bedroom units — designed for medium-stay visits, close to the surf and to nature. The communal areas include a breakfast space and a private outdoor area.
Inside, a contemporary language with references to Portuguese vernacular architecture: lime, timber and local stone.
Developed in BIM — the three-dimensional model that brings the specialities together before construction — which helped optimise the layout of the units, simulate energy performance and speed up permitting with Mafra Municipal Council. Under construction, with opening scheduled for 2026.
