Description

Full renovation of a traditional house in Cascais. The exterior lines characteristic of the local architecture were preserved and the intervention was focused on the interior, modernised through a refined, functional and luminous language, in the service of contemporary living.

The living quarters unfold on the ground floor, with sitting room, dining room, kitchen and utility room in generous, interconnected spaces, bathed in light from the skylights. The private quarters withdraw to the lower floor, connected to the outside by courtyards and openings that ensure light and ventilation. Timber and stone set a warm and serene tone, in a balance between the memory of the house and the demands of the present.

Intervention
  • Full renovation of the interior, retaining the traditional exterior
  • Reorganisation of the layout: living quarters on the ground floor, private quarters on the lower floor
  • Natural light maximised with skylights and large glazed openings
  • Natural materials such as timber and stone, for a serene and sophisticated atmosphere
